Drugs are good. M’Kay?

Drugs are good. M’kay?

Just a quick update and a thank you i love you all note to everyone who supported me last week.

I saw my Dr Friday afternoon and we decided to go with Wellbutrin. I think I feel better just having taken the first step. I have of course checked compulsively for loss of ability to orgasm, but so far, it’s fine.

Or maybe that’s why I’m feeling better.

I’ve also been taking a muscle relaxant in the evening for my neck, so it’s hard to tell what is a side effect of the muscle relaxant, and what is a side effect of the Wellbutrin, so will save those comments and observations for later.

I will say that orgasms on muscle relaxants are… weird.

Now to return to our regulatory scheduled perversity…

I started taking wellbutrin many years ago to help with feeling.....stuck. Unmotivated, even when I could clearly see I had work to do and things to enjoy. After a couple of pleasant years I weaned off of it. Enter five years of new husband, trying to get pregnant, ivf's, and then awesome twins. At a year old I started getting that stuck feeling. I went back on the horse and feel so much better! It's like a little shove in the small of my back to get things moving. I personally find that a side effect is a bit more zip in the sack. A better ability to concentrate, if you will. I think wellbutrins major side effect is zest. ;)

Wellbutrin has a fast uptake time as opposed to some of the other drugs on the market making ideal for those who can tolerate it. For some people it makes them feel very  agitated which is really no fun.  The upside is that is can help people quit smoking if they are doing so already.. nice little bonus that. and even bigger.. the are almost zero sexual side effects with it.. ( double happy).   Guess who is married to shrink??

Good for you for allowing yourself to get the help you need.  Why such a stigma goes with depression, I don't know.  What I do know is that I fought it for 3 years before finally giving up and seeing my doctor.  She put me on Wellbutrin and it worked.  I saw things clearly again.  I had always loved my family, but now I like them again.  I found happiness in the regular things are supposed to make you happy.  And, I'm happy to report that yesterday was my follow-up appointment with my doctor after going off of the Wellbutrin.  I was on it for 13 months.  It helped.  I've been off it for just under 2 months now and I'm still fine.  Better than fine.  I hope it works for you and that you have as much success with it as I did.  (Oh, and never had any loss of the big "O" from it at all.  Hallelujiah!)  Good for you for taking care of yourself!

Wellbutrin is great. It started working for me after only two days of taking it. It makes me eat less and I feel more like myself again. You shouldn't have orgasm problems on it. That is a lot more common with something like celexa or Prozac. I hope you feel better soon!
